throughout campus were a group of students who were carrying out Juan
Mann's Free Hugs campaign,proving that "Sometimes a hug is all we
need".

Footsteps of Death: Walk for Darfur, March 26th

Volunteers and participants walked nine times around ring road yesterday for Footsteps of Death: Walk for Darfur. Organized by UW Genocide Action Group, each foostep was supposed to represent six people killed in the genocide ongoing in Darfur - 450 000 people were estimated to have been killed in the ongoing crisis in Darfur. In an effort to raise funds and awareness , UWGAG hoped to beat its own record of $ 4000 raised last year from the walk. Proceeds last year went to OXFAM.

Preventing Genocide - A Conference by the Armenian Student Association

The Armenian Student Association organized a conference on genocide and advocating human rights and freedom of expression, with prominent speakers Rich Hichens, and former MP David Warner.

UW Genocide Action Group at CIGI for Darfur: On Our Watch

Last night it seemed there was hardly anybody who left the CIGI building in Uptown Waterloo unmoved by what they had seen. The Centre for International Governance Intervention, with the help of UW’S Genocide Action Group set up a filming of a CBC documentary that exposed the crisis in Darfur.

Friday March 12th brought to close the International Women’s Week events, organized by the Women’s Centre. Hot and Spicy (held at the MPR at 4) as well as a Bomber Night (same place, at 6) were the last two events on a week long itinerary that included a variety of events, including guest speaker, feminist writer Judy Rebick.

Celebrating Diversity at Waterloo: Cultural Caravan a Success

Cultural Caravan was a huge success last night, thanks to some stellar performances and a huge audience turnout. The SLC was filled last night with students from different clubs and societies on campus, and audience members. Cultural Caravan

The one and only Cultural Caravan, an event celebrating the diversity on campus, is going on next week on Tuesday March 4th from 6 – 9 p.m. at the SLC. Dynamic performances, delicious cuisine served in various booths, and a chance to explore a culture outside your own are all on agenda for this evening.
